These Soothing Stickies provide research-backed* period pain relief! They work by creating a lifting effect on the skin, stimulating nerve fibers and activating the body's natural pain relief mechanisms, ultimately reducing cramping symptoms. Soothing Stickies can be used on your abdomen or on your lower back.
Below we'll outline the best way to use these stickies!
For menstrual cramp pain in your abdomen, use two stickies to make a cross shape across your abdomen. Stickie strips come in two sizes (short and long) and can also be cut down to size using scissors if necessary.
Apply a stickie vertically from your lower abdomen to just below your navel. Make sure to stretch the stickie as you apply to create tension on your skin.
Tip: Instead of peeling the stickie off the roll, use scissors to cut the stickie and backing from the roll. Then peel back a small section of backing at the anchor end. Apply the anchor end of the tape to your skin, then apply tension to the tape and continue to peel back the backing as you are stretching the tape across your skin.
Apply a second stickie horizontally across the first from one side of your abdomen to the other. Ensure the stickie is positioned directly over the area you feel pain. Rub tape thoroughly after it’s applied to ensure it adheres well to the skin.
For menstrual cramp pain in your lower back, you can use one or two stickies placed horizontally across your lower back.
Apply one stickie horizontally from one side of your lower back to the other, directly over the area you feel pain. Make sure to stretch the stickie as you apply to create surface tension on your skin.
A second stickie can be used to cover more area if necessary!
CLEAN
Clean the area of the skin where you'll be applying the tape. Make sure the skin is dry and free from lotions, oils, or sweat. You may choose to remove hair in the application area. Stickies will adhere best to clean, dry skin.
PREP
Gently tear a pre-cut stickie (including backing) from the roll. Rub with your hands or apply light heat (such as with a hairdryer) to further activate the adhesive before applying it to the skin.
APPLY
Remove the backing of the tape without touching the adhesive surface. It can help to remove the protective backing starting at the anchor end. Gently apply the tape at the desired area under pre-stretch. Position and stretch according to the application technique you are using. It's essential to follow specific application techniques. Do not overstretch when applying. When applying the tape, make sure it does not pinch the skin.
SMOOTH
Smooth the tape onto the skin using your hand, starting from the center and moving outward. Rub the tape to ensure it adheres well to the skin. Stickies are moisture resistant and can be worn during most daily activities, and at night! Recommended to remove and reapply stickies as needed, every 24 hours.
REMOVE
Apply oil or lotion on top of the tape to loosen the tape. Remove the tape slowly. Don't rip tape off. Press down on your skin to separate it from the tape. Pull the tape back against itself (rather than straight away from you). Compress your skin gently while pulling the tape back in the direction of the other end. If removal is difficult, the adhesive can be softened in a warm bath or shower. After the tape has been removed, fold and dispose in a waste bin.
